Central Sydney Planning Committee

15 June 2010

The NSW Government has announcement that the role, function and operations of the Central Sydney Planning Committee (CSPC) is to be reviewed. The CSPC is the body responsible for decision-making on large development proposals in the City of Sydney local government area and is chaired by the Sydney Lord Mayor.

We are advised that the review of the CSPC operations will be undertaken by an independent panel, chaired by Ms Gabrielle Kibble AO, a former Director-General of the Department of Planning.

The Minister has requested the review panel report its independent findings to him by early August. Submissions will be received until 7 July 2010.

The Urban Taskforce will be making a submission on this important matter and would welcome input from members who have had firsthand experience with the CSPC.

Further information on this matter can be obtained from here.
