18 Meriton’s High Rise Gold Coast Tower designed by SJB Architects Jonathan Tondi, SJB Alexia Fisher, Meriton’s Chief Architect gave a detailed outline of the tall buildings that Meriton has produced. This included World Square in Sydney and two tall apartment buildings in Brisbane designed by DBI Architects. She then explained the brief for the latest design for a Gold Coast tower including Meriton concerns about the rapidly changing market in the Gold Coast. She indicated that Meriton may reduce the height of the current proposed building if the market softened. Jonathan Tondi, Design Architect from SJB explained how the design of the tower had evolved to maximise views over the beach area and how each floor was planned. He then explained the broad massing of the building and how it would be seen from various locations on the Gold Coast. Finally Tondi illustrated a fall back position for the design that lowered the height if the market was slowing down.
