The Urban Taskforce has raised around $1.7 million for charity over the last 10 years to assist St Vincents Prostrate Cancer Centre and Warrah Disability Services.
For the last decade the Urban Taskforce has held a very well attended lunch to recognise the Property Person of the Year and we have used this occasion to get the industry to contribute funds towards two worthy charities, says Urban Taskforce Secretary and Treasurer, David Tanevski. We have raised around $1.7 million to assist the worthy charities of St Vincents Prostrate Cancer Centre and Warrah Disability Services.
This year we raised $80,000 to be distributed between the two charities. Representatives from each charity explained to the large audience the work they are undertaking and why they need more sponsorship.
The 2012 Property Person of the Year, Ross McDiven, visited both charities and acknowledged the excellent work they were doing.
Chris Johnson, CEO of the Urban Taskforce said It is impressive that the property industry has contributed so much towards two very deserving charities over many years.
I visited Warrah with Ross McDiven, our Property Person of the Year, and we were both very impressed with the care and attention given to the residents with intellectual disabilities. Clearly much help was needed with the building stock and it is highly appropriate that the property sector is able to provide funds and resources to help out.
During 2013 we will select the next Property Person of the Year and use this important occasion to raise further funds for St Vincents Prostrate Cancer Centre and for Warrah Disability Services.
