On 15 December 2010, the NSW Government published the Urban Renewal State Environmental Planning Policy. The first three precincts identified under the SEPP for renewal are Redfern-Waterloo, Granville town centre and the Newcastle CBD.
The NSW Department of Planning and Infrastructure has released a list of desired outcomes for the Redfern-Waterloo and Granville town centres. The Department says that it will work with the Sydney Metropolitan Development Authority to prepare studies and policies which seek to meet these outcomes.
