Acting CEO of Urban Taskforce, Stephen Fenn, today said the NSW Premier’s directive expanding the breadth and authority of the NSW Infrastructure Coordinator General was a huge leap forward in the infrastructure needs underpinning new homes and new jobs in NSW.
The Premier’s directive today recognises that a new approach was desperately needed to not only achieve the housing targets under the National Housing Accord, but to realise the potential and opportunities of the new Western Sydney airport due to open in 2026.
For too long in NSW there was an absence of authority when it came to infrastructure delivery on the ground. Agencies like Sydney Water and TfNSW were pursuing their own agenda, timetable and priorities, with no central voice dictating the overarching needs of the State.
