L&E Court needs more resources
Further to today’s piece in The Daily Telegraph (pg18), Urban Taskforce CEO, Tom Forrest spoke with the ABC about some local councils actively frustrating development and increasing demand on the Courts to deal with basic assessments.
The Courts have seen a doubling of their workload over the last decade with only a minor increase in the number of Judges and Commissioners. This is adding to the delays in the midst of a housing supply crisis.
“They [some local councils] are using it [the Land and Environment court] as a tool to delay the process – frustrating in the midst of a housing crisis where we all have skin in the game” Tom Forrest, Urban Taskforce CEO.
