The Northlakes Estate in the Hunter Valley by the McCloy Group has won the Urban Taskforce Australias Masterplanned Communities Award for 2012.
“Even in difficult economic times there are excellent developments occurring around Australia,” says Urban Taskforce CEO Chris Johnson. “Our jury, under the chairmanship of Government Architect Peter Poulet, found that many excellent projects were entered in the awards this year and they have come up with some quality projects as winners.”
The jury for this years awards was impressed by the success of the Northlakes Estate, says Urban Taskforce CEO Chris Johnson. With 845 of the 1,500 lots developed and sold over a 10 year period the estate is well and truly established.
The price of lots has risen over the 10 years making sure the project is an economic success but with home sites priced between $150,000 and $245,000 they represent exceptional value for money.
The jury was impressed by the attention to community benefits through the childrens play grounds which were installed by McCloys.
The contribution of 130 hectares of environmentally protected open space including riparian corridors adds a series of green areas through the estate. The creek has been supported by a network of swales and detention basins to keep the water clean.
As one of the residents has said….They are building a real community.
This award to McCloys recognises the excellent work this company is doing in the Hunter Valley by providing well designed and managed housing estates like Northlakes, says Chris Johnson.
