How nearly 50,000 homes are getting stuck in Sydney’s planning pipeline – Sydney Morning Herald 12.11.24

Today The Sydney Morning Herald published an article highlighting how serious the issue of delayed DA’s is for Sydney.

Almost 50,000 dwellings that were approved within Greater Sydney back in 2021 and 2022 have not commenced construction.

Lots of reasons – but bottom line is an exodus of builders, rising costs and development consents that would lose you money if they were acted on.

In the midst of a housing crisis, how can this be?

Tom Forrest, Urban Taskforce CEO noted “There’s a huge gap, and right now, there does not appear to be a strategy in place, with the tangible policies, to bridge that gap”.
