The announcement by the Minister for Planning, Pru Goward about new e-Planning tools is a good move towards a modern planning system, says the Urban Taskforce.
“The new planning tools will make planning more accessible for communities, consumers & industry and should make planning faster and easier for all.”
“To enable planning proposals to be understood in three dimensions will help explain new projects. This needs to be balanced with a visual representation of what the planning rules allow.”
“Many of the proposed reforms to the planning system that are now on hold can be incorporated in an electronic planning system. “
“It is important that the online approach to planning manages the expectations of communities so that they can be involved in the strategic end of setting the rules for where growth occurs and then see how proposals fit into these rules.”
“The Electronic Housing Code is a good example of a more efficient system for the benefit of all stakeholders.”
