Anna Blighs outrageous attack on the development industry in Queensland demonstrates she is out of date, anti-growth and is against a prosperous future for the state of Queensland says the Urban Taskforce Australia.
Anna Blighs statement that she will stamp out the murky world of dogey developer deals can only reflect badly on the role of the Labour government over recent years. said Urban Taskforce CEO Chris Johnson If there were any murky deals they must have been done under Labors watch.
This sort of knee-jerk anti-development attack from the Premier is totally misplaced. The Minister for Local Government, Paul Lucas, only a few weeks ago was applauding the performance of Queenslands planning system yet now the Premier wants to criticise it.
I would expect the development industry in Queensland to not want to contribute to the states prosperity if they are treated this way.
This is a cheap political shot to try and attack the very industry that is helping rebuild Queensland after the devastating floods. The inference that the industry is some underworld anti-community group is an outrageous distortion of reality.
The property industry actually involves most of the community including the banks, the financiers, the architects, the engineers, the bricklayers, the carpenters, the steel industry, the kitchen fit out industry, the makers of solar panels, the builders and many more.
Most of Anna Blighs voters in one way or another rely on a healthy property industry. She should be supporting the many jobs that flow from development instead of attacking the industry.
