The Urban Taskforce hosted a Morning Team Forum focusing on the ‘meanwhile’ use of the Addison Hotel, Randwick – known as the Addison Project.
An innovative project is underway to keep vulnerable people off the streets and in safe accommodation. Property developer and Urban Taskforce member TOGA opened the doors of the vacant ‘Addison Hotel’ on Anzac Parade, Kensington to provide accommodation to those who are experiencing homelessness. The Addison Hotel was purchased by TOGA several years ago and was destined to lie dormant while the approval for the redevelopment of the site was obtained. The hotel includes 42 fully-furnished rooms set across three storeys. The initial one year project has now been extended to three years.
TOGA have partnered with a number of other organisations to make the Addison project the focus for a variety of services to help the homeless and the less well off. My Foundations Youth Housing finds suitable tenants, Oz Harvest provides complimentary food and Orange Sky Australia provides laundry and shower facilities. Thread Together sources new clothing and local barbers provide free haircuts.
We would like to thank our speaker Fabrizio Perilli from TOGA and our event sponsor Allens for hosting the event.
