CEO of Urban Taskforce, Tom Forrest, said today’s release of quarterly data from the ABS showed there was no prospect of NSW achieving the number of completed dwellings needed under the National Housing Accord with housing construction commencements continuing to fall.
Today’s commencements data shows the Housing Accord targets are in a near terminal state from the very start. Low commencements today means low completion numbers in the near future and this is very bad news for the National Housing Accord.
The success or failure of the National Housing Accord is measured by the number of housing completions achieved by the end of June 2029. The target is 1.2 million.
