10 MELROSE PARK, SYDNEY PAYCE Director Dominic Sullivan presented the plan for Sydney’s largest urban renewal project - Melrose Park. It is a 30-hectare former light industrial site located in a prime position near the Parramatta River between the Sydney CBD and Parramatta CBD. The $6 billion project will include around 6,000 new apartments, a retail town centre, community facilities and parklands and create more than 1,500 full-time commercial jobs. The project is being developed to meet the 30-minute City concept. It will be within 30 minutes of key employment areas including the Parramatta CBD, Sydney Olympic Park and Westmead Health Precinct, education precincts such as Western Sydney University, and other key services, including parks and recreational facilities. The project will include upgraded transport links, with planning underway for a new bridge over the Parramatta River. The bridge will carry bus services, cyclists and pedestrians - it is also on the route for the planned Parramatta Light Rail 2. Other transport services will include on demand shuttle buses connecting to other transport options including Meadowbank Station and turn up and go express bus services on Victoria Road. The project will also be a Smart City urban renewal with residents enjoying the benefits of new digital technology connecting them to all the services needed to improve their quality of life. This PAYCE project follows successful urban renewal developments including Wentworth Point, Washington Park, Royal Shores at Ermington and its multi-award winning mixed use project East Village which included a 7,000sqm sky park.
