More than 50 Urban Taskforce members gathered last night for a Twilight Tour of Goodman’s Rosebery Engine Yards – this year’s Adaptive Reuse Development winner at the Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Awards. This was followed by an inspiring Urban Visions presentation.
It was a full house despite the rain, and it quickly became clear why so many wanted to explore this remarkable project. The design by Goodman masterfully balances industrial heritage with contemporary refinement – preserving original brick façades, timber beams, steel columns, and gantry machinery, while integrating modern elements that deliver a vibrant retail, showroom, and lifestyle precinct.
Guests also gained insight into the project’s strong sustainability credentials, with a 30% reduction in embodied carbon achieved through material reuse, including 20,000 repurposed bricks, as well as solar panels and EV charging infrastructure.
A huge thank you to David Wilson, Guy Smith, and Kodie Todd, and to the extended Goodman team, for their generosity in hosting such a memorable evening.
