The fund raising dinner that celebrated the Property Person of the Year raised over $90,000 for Warrah Society and St Vincent’ s Prostate Cancer Research, says the Urban Taskforce.
“For the last 12 years the Urban Taskforce has been raising funds for charities in conjunction with celebrating the announcement of the Property Person of the Year,” says Urban Taskforce CEO, Chris Johnson. “We have now raised over $2.2 million dollars in cash and over $500,000 in kind donations to contribute back to Warrah Society and to St Vincent’s Prostate Cancer as well as contributions in kind.”
“Warrah is a not-for-profit community based organisation supporting individuals with disabilities, primarily intellectual disabilities. They have a number of group homes in the Hills area that are in constant need of repair and upgrading. This year Warrah are looking for funds to build a new training kitchen.”
“We are indebted to the Urban Taskforce and its members for their incredible support that helps our ageing buildings,” says Georgina Michaelis, CEO, Warrah Society. “The support has been through financial help and also through in kind where carpenters, electricians and a multitude of traddies who have helped repair our buildings.”
Associate Professor Phillip Stricker the Director of the St Vincent’s Prostate Cancer Centre says “Once again we thank the Urban Taskforce members for their generosity in helping with our research program. To meet each of the Property Persons of the Year has also been a privilege”
The Secretary Treasurer of the Urban Taskforce, David Tanevski who instigated the charity fundraising event 12 years ago says, “We are proud to be able to make a positive contribution to such worthy charities. Each year we visit both charities with the current Property Person of the Year and it is amazing to see and hear of the impact our fund raising has had for both organisations.”
The 2014 Property Person of the Year is Tony Perich AM and he was given the award at a recent gala dinner attended by over 400 of his peers. Master of Ceremonies Glenn Wheeler interviewed Tony in a very amusing manner that demonstrated his incredible achievements in the development industry as well as in many other areas.”
