Urban Taskforce Elects New Chairman

15 October 2014

Former Managing Director and Chairman of Stockland, Peter Daly, has been elected Chair of Urban Taskforce Australia.

“Peter Daly has a wealth of experience in the property industry as Managing Director of Stockland for 10 years from 1990 and then as Chairman of Stockland for a further 5 years,” said Urban Taskforce CEO, Chris Johnson. “Peter was unanimously elected as the new chair at the recent Urban Taskforce Australia’s Annual General Meeting. Two Deputy Chairs were elected Peter Spira of Meriton and Alan Linz of Rebel Property Group; David Tanevski, Managing Director of KWC Capital Partners was elected as the Secretary Treasurer.”

Peter Daly said, “I am honoured to be elected chair of the Urban Taskforce. I have observed the excellent contribution the Urban Taskforce has been making to debate on the planning and growth of Australian cities with many positive proposals. It is important that industry groups contribute ideas as well as critique the planning and procurement processes their members operate within. I look forward to a stimulating time ahead.”

Urban Taskforce CEO, Chris Johnson acknowledged the contribution of outgoing chair Noel Hemmings QC. “Noel has been a steadying hand for the Urban Taskforce over the last 5 years particularly through the transition to the new government in NSW. His wise counsel will be missed.”

“Peter Daly has a Bachelor of Engineering, worked for many years in Stocks and Holdings before becoming Managing Director of Stockland in 1990. Peter became Chairman of Stockland in 2000 and retired in 2005. He retains an interest in the property industry.”

“Peter will be particularly busy in coming months with numerous round table meetings, culminating with the Property Person of the Year dinner on 21 November which celebrates the contribution of Tony Perich and supports the charities of St Vincent’s Prostate Cancer Centre and Warrah Homes.
