The Urban Taskforce is keen to contribute ideas to the big debate on affordable housing across Sydney so we have undertaken some research on ways to make apartments more affordable. We compared the planning rules in Melbourne (Victoria) with those in Sydney (NSW) and found that $150,000 could be saved in Sydney with Melbourne planning rules. We also look at why Australia’s houses are the biggest in the world, at New York’s micro apartments and at Sydney’s New Generation Boarding Houses.
