Top end hotel good for Sydney

The announcement that the International Convention Centre Hotel at Darling Harbour will start on site is good news for Sydney’s tourism industry.

“The elegant design of the hotel by Sydney Architect, Richard Francis-Jones is an excellent addition to the precinct and demonstrates confidence in the city’s growing tourism industry,” says Urban Taskforce CEO, Chris Johnson. “Along with other proposed new hotels in Sydney at Barangaroo and Circular Quay, the ICC Hotel represents a boom in the provision of tourist facilities for Sydney.”

“Sydney is positioned well to attract the growing middle classes of China and India to our city for conventions and for sightseeing. The city must grow to attract this new market with hotels, conventions and exhibition facilities. This is clearly happening particularly at Barangaroo and Darling Harbour.”

“The Urban Taskforce supports the height of the new hotel at 35 storeys as Sydney must grow vertically to accommodate our future population growth and increasing tourist numbers.”
