Urban Taskforce CEO Tom Forrest told Sydney’s 2GB Weekends with Luke Grant that apartment development in Western Sydney is becoming increasingly difficult.
Tom noted that Landcom projects benefitted from advantages that the private sector simply don’t get, including no stamp duty on land purchases, no land tax while holding the land, and access to cheaper finance.
“If Landcom can’t make a project stack up with all those advantages, how can the private sector possibly do it?”
This is a clear example of the cost and regulatory barriers that are still holding back housing supply in NSW.
