Chief executive of developer lobby group Urban Taskforce Tom Forrest said it sounded good but that it would hurt home buyers.
“You don’t bring in a tax on bakers because there is a shortage of bread,” Forrest said.
“It sounds politically popular to say you are hitting developers with a new tax, but the reality is that this flows on to the cost of the new home.
