The Urban Taskforce congratulates the developers of One Central Park, Frasers Property and Sekisui House and the architects Jean Nouvel with PTW for winning the Best Tall Building in the World award.
“In our Development Excellence Awards the Urban Taskforce awarded One Central Park the ‘Development of the Year’ award for 2014, as we saw it as an exemplary design for urban living,” says Urban Taskforce CEO, Chris Johnson. “ The Central Park precinct has a density of around 1,000 people / hectare yet it has a very comfortable environment suitable for urban living.”
“The innovative use of landscape across the building gives a dramatic appearance to this tall tower while reflecting Sydney’s relationship between buildings and landscape. The dramatic cantilever at the top of the building has become an iconic part of Sydney particularly in the evening when a light works display occurs.”
“One Central Park is a good example of how high rise living in towers near transport nodes can be successfully achieved. Clearly this sets an example that could occur close to many railway stations across metropolitan Sydney.”
“One Central Park also demonstrates the importance of design quality. The developers of the site have run a number of design competitions and in selecting Atelier Jean Nouvel from Paris are clearly interested in ensuring Sydney gets the best possible result.”
“The Urban Taskforce campaign about encouraging a diverse range of densities across Sydney used One Central Park as an example as shown on its EcoDenCity website. This can be accessed at: http://www.ecodencity.com.au/case-studies/central-park/”
