The government will provide $10.1 million over four years to develop “sustainability indicators” for Australia and to prepare progress reports against these indicators. Sustainability impact statements will be prepared for new policy proposals.
It’s important that these indicators reflect the sustainability concerns of the mainstream community, and the Federal Government ensures that the process is not taken over by fringe groups. We will be closely involved in this process.
