Urban Taskforce CEO, Tom Forrest, today welcomed the NSW government’s announcement of a new pathway for rezoning assessments which will see large projects assessed by the Department of Planning and not local Councils. Finally, Premier Dominic Perrottet and Planning Minister Anthony Roberts have abandoned the policy of the Berejiklian Government to hand over all control of planning rezonings to Councils.
This change has been dripping out from the Department of Planning over the past few weeks and is a clear sign that the Department has been directed by the Minister and Premier to stop denying the housing supply and affordability crisis and get on with fixing it.
