Media Release – Urban Taskforce pays tribute to the passing of an industry giant – Vale Lang Walker AO

Urban Taskforce CEO, Tom Forrest today said the property industry, the state of NSW and the nation had lost a great leader and innovator with the passing of Lang Walker this weekend.
Lang Walker was an integral part of the Urban Taskforce from day one – being one of its inaugural members when the Taskforce was established in 1999. He also served on the Urban Taskforce Executive for many years. He was a mentor and close personal friend of David Tanevski, Urban Taskforce’s founding Director and Hon Secretary Treasurer. Mr Tanevski offered his personal condolences to Mr Walker’s family today.
Urban Taskforce Chair, David Ghannoum, also paid tribute to Mr Walker, saying “Lang Walker was a success across every sector of the property industry. Low rise and high rise residential, retail, commercial, industrial land development and even tourism. It led the way in every field and will be sorely missed”.
Lang Walker was awarded Urban Taskforce’s Property Person of the Year on two occasions – the most recent being in 2022.
Urban Taskforce pays tribute to Lang Walker AO and extends the sympathies of Taskforce members to his family and the Walker team, who Lang himself highly valued as delivering Walker Corporation’s urban transformation projects.
He has left an incredible legacy for the property development sector both here and abroad. Australia has lost a giant of the business world this weekend.
