Urban Taskforce Australia’s 2023 Development of the Year, 88 by JQZ at St Leonards, is an excellent example of height and density done well near a rail station and is a worthy winner of this prestigious award.
The award was presented by keynote speaker, the Minister for Planning, Hon Paul Scully. The development, comprising 640 apartments, is close to St Leonards rail station and includes two apartment buildings and a commercial building. Connecting the buildings are cafes, restaurants, a medical centre and supermarkets with the residential buildings overlooking a new park that was funded by the project.
CEO of Urban Taskforce, Tom Forrest, said the Development of the Year was a timely winner in showing the way forward at a time when the new Minns Government is pushing ahead with plans to deliver more housing, greater height and density around major transport hubs.
