Urban Taskforce CEO, Tom Forrest, today welcomed the Premier’s pointed speech delivered at the Bradfield oration.
The Premier declared there would be a new approach to the monitoring of the performance of councils and the Department of Planning when it came to assessing and approving the housing that NSW so desperately needs.
Holding all levels of government to account is the first step to exposing inefficiencies in the system. The Premier laid bare his expectations that must do everything possible to drive housing supply.
His comment that all planners and assessors must consider the importance of new housing supply for young families and newly arrived immigrants, rather than just those views expressed by local objectors, was particularly poignant. This must apply from the design of policy to the coal face of assessments.
