Urban Taskforce CEO, Tom Forrest, today said that the November building approvals data released by the ABS for NSW show a collapse in approvals for multi-unit dwellings and reflect the ongoing, systemic failures of the NSW planning system.
While housing approvals over 12 months have been generally consistent, November saw a dramatic decline in unit approvals – plummeting to 1,089 approvals in November 2022.
This is a dramatic 18.2% drop in approvals from the previous month – the worst of any State or Territory.
