I write in relation to Lane Cove Council’s draft affordable housing policy, which is currently on public exhibition.
Urban Taskforce Australia has concerns about the impact the proposals are likely to have on new housing development, at a time when the industry is facing significant challenges.
While we acknowledge that there is a need for affordable housing initiatives to help to address rental stress for segments of our community, the draft policy will exacerbate the cost of delivering housing, increase prices for homebuyers, and make many projects unfeasible.
