The founder of Crown Group Iwan Sunito has been announced as the ‘2015 Property Person of the Year’ by the Urban Taskforce.
“Iwan has grown the Crown Group in less than 20 years into one of Sydney’s major developers of upper end apartments with a portfolio worth more than $4.5 billion,” says Urban Taskforce CEO, Chris Johnson. “The recent success of sales for his Infinity apartments where all 300 apartments were sold in one day demonstrates the entrepreneurial approach of Iwan and his team.”
“Iwan is a classic success story through his drive and commitment to quality that have lifted him from his early days in a small town in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia to studying architecture at the University of New South Wales, to forming Crown Group with business partner Paul Sathio in 1996 and now running a development company worth many billions of dollars.”

The awarding of the Property Person of the Year will take place early in December at a special dinner that raises funds for two charities, Warrah Homes and St Vincent’s Prostrate Cancer Centre. Over the 12 years that the Property Person of the Year has been awarded, the Urban Taskforce has raised in cash and kind over $2.5 million for the two charities.
Urban Taskforce Chair, Peter Daly says, “Iwan Sunito represents a new wave of entrepreneurial developers who are creating apartment buildings that convey the excitement of urban living. I congratulate Iwan on his incredible achievements over a relatively short period of time.”

Iwan Sunito has received significant media coverage in the print media and on television in Australia. He has also appeared on Bloomberg Television in Indonesia, on Channel News Asia and numerous media outlets across Asia. He has published a book titled “From Borneo to Bloomberg. A Comeback Story and 13 Principles for Success”.
He has contributed to community organisations as Chairman of B2B, a business to business group that empowers young professionals, Board Member of the Global Diaspora Board- a group of 10 Indonesian leaders, Chairman of NSW Tsunami Corporate Fund that raised funds for the Tsunami in Aceh, Indonesia.
