HomeBuilder stimulus pushed through without House vote

Home builders and renovators will start receiving the Morrison government’s $688 million boost to the construction industry without any need for a vote in Parliament to authorise the outlay, despite a Labor move to amend the scheme.

The government will use agreements with the states to make the payments to thousands of home owners by the end of December, in an uncapped scheme that could cost more if more people apply for cash.
