Todays launch of an online system for the electronic lodgement of development applications for houses is a positive step in the right direction, according to the Urban Taskforce.
The Urban Taskforce chief executive Chris Johnson said that he supported a simpler and more efficient planning system and is encouraged by the Governments recent initiative.
The potential for development approvals within three days is astounding.
The simplification of planning rules coupled with a modern online planning portal will go a long way towards boosting housing production.
“There is a real opportunity to ensure that the new planning system in NSW is far simpler than the current minefield of controls.”
Mr Johnson said once we have a simplified set of planning rules, then an effective and truly useful online system can be developed.
This is the first step forward in catching up with the world’s best electronic planning systems, he said.
“We still have a long way to go compared to planningportal.com.uk where the public can do most planning transactions on line.
