The Federal Government has released a draft policy statement and a discussion paper on the use of environmental offsets under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 for public comment.
The objectives of the Federal Government’s policy development process are to ensure the best environmental outcomes are achieved through the consistent, transparent and equitable application of offsets under the EPBC Act.

The draft policy statement and discussion paper are currently being reviewed by the NSW Urban Taskforce to determine whether a submission will be made. If any members wish to contribute to this submission please contact Aaron Gadiel by Friday 16 November 2007 on 9238 3955 or by e-mail.
Alternatively, members can make a submission directly to the Federal Department of the Environment and Water Resources by Friday 30 November 2007.
