I write in response to the public exhibition of the Draft Planning for Bushfire Protection (PBP)2026.
Urban Taskforce members are concerned that the proposed changes go beyond a streamlining of the process and instead, the draft document may have significant planning and regulatory implications and could impact the assessment, design and development of bushfire prone land across NSW.
The potential consequences extend across development capacity, land utilisation, vegetation management, infrastructure, assessment requirements, project delivery
and cost.
