Bob Rose is Property Person of the Year

21 October 2010

Bob Rose, Chief Executive Officer of Rose Property Group, has been named Property Person of the Year 2010 by the Urban Taskforce. The Urban Taskforces chief executive, Aaron Gadiel, said that Mr Rose has made a vital contribution to the urban development industry and the wider community.

Bob Rose creates inspiring new communities, Mr Gadiel said.

He hasnt been afraid to take risks and innovate.

His developments have established new standards for reinvigorating tired urban landscapes.

Hes been an innovator in the use of open space and design.

Mr Gadiel said that Bob Rose was known for his high standards and commitment to quality.

Bob Rose led the way in the ˜triple bottom line approach focusing on financial viability, environmental integrity and social consciousness, he said.

But he isnt just a successful businessman – hes worked hard to support philanthropic causes.

Bobs been a tireless backer of Warrah Disability Services, the St Vincents Prostate Cancer Clinic and other charitable causes.

Mr Rose served as chairman of the Urban Taskforce Australia between 2003 and 2009.

In the three years to 2009, Bob Rose was nominated by industry participants as property person of the year, but he removed himself from consideration because of his role as the Urban Taskforces chairman, Mr Gadiel said.

Were pleased that Bobs retirement as our chairman has now cleared the way to formally recognise his achievements not just in 2010 but throughout his 50 year career in property.

In 2008 Bob Rose was honoured with an Order of Australia for his “contribution for service to the building and construction industry and to the community, particularly in the area of sustainable urban development and planning and through support for a range of charitable organisations”.

Under Bob Roses leadership, his family company, Rose Group, has been a pioneer in land remediation and a leader in the development of lifestyle communities.

The Cape Cabarita development was created on a 7.5 hectare waterfront property, formerly occupied by Wellcome Pharmaceutical, which required remediation, Mr Gadiel said.

Rose Group built on this success with their purchase of the 52 hectare AGL site at Mortlake which has been transformed into the new Breakfast Point community.

Breakfast Point, a joint venture with Cbus, is truly unique, with 1.5 kilometres of waterfront walk, massive areas of manicured parkland, first-rate community facilities and lifestyle.

Ultimately, Breakfast Point will be home to 5,000 people.

Its sixteen year development program is in its eleventh year and right on target.

In the last two years, Rose Group has released eight new buildings at Breakfast Point, including Cypress (31 homes); Maple (21 homes); Jacaranda (30 homes); Indigo and Magnolia (98 homes in two five storey towers); The Silkstone (45 homes) and Verandahs on the Bay (a small, exclusive harbour front building of 21 luxury homes).

Sales have been exceptionally strong. At present the Rose Group has 212 apartments under construction at Breakfast Point.

The Rose Group has also been busy in China over the last three years. After achieving development consent for a 250,000 square metre mixed use development in Hefei it sold its 50 per cent interest in the projects so it could concentrate on its various residential projects in and around Sydney.
