Height controls holding Sydney back | 21.05.25

Urban Taskforce CEO, Tom Forrest featured on 2GB’s Clinton Maynard afternoon program, commenting on a need for the modernisation of the Sydney skyline, following objections by the Electrical Trades Union (of all groups) to the development of a new 60-storey hotel tower in the CBD.

Tom said, “Goodness me, there should be a complete redesign of the heights of buildings in the city with a view to modern standards which apply all the way around the world. We’re now seeing much taller buildings going up in Brisbane and in Perth and yet in Sydney we’re stuck – hampered by something [Centrepoint Tower] that was built over 40 years ago. It’s just not right.”
