b'NATALIE MALLIGAN THE HEAD OF UBER ELEVATE OUTLINES A NEW VISION FOR MOVING AROUND CITIESNatalie Malligan was previously the Head of Cities for Australia and New Zealand for Uber. She is now Head of Uber Elevate where she is responsible for making Ubers ambitious urban aviation plans a reality. Natalies presentation outlined how inefficient existing car usage is, and suggested a number of alternatives. The first alternative was to encourage more sharing of transport, which occurs with Uber shared rides. The second was to integrate transport more with a single payment platform so that public transport users could then use bike apps or scooter apps to finalise a journey. The third alternative was to encourage more active transport where a person through a bike, scooter or skateboard could travel faster than by walking. The final alternative Natalie proposed was through electronic and autonomous vehicle usage into the future. She then took the audience on a journey into the future with Uber Elevate. Three cities in the world will be the trial for Uber Elevate where a specially designed helicopter based on drone like technology can take groups of passengers to a variety of locations. One of the cities trialling Uber Elevate is Melbourne, where partners include the Westfield network of stores. Presumably travellers will use electric bikes or Uber share cars to get to a Westfield store and then take off from the roof to another Westfield store near their destination, and the roads will have far fewer cars.10'
