3 INTERNATIONAL EXAMPLES OF GREENING CITIES MIKE HORNE, Turf Design Studio Mike Horne of Turf Design Studio presents an overview of urban greening examples from around the world. These include the boulevards of Paris with their mature street trees, Central Park in New York with its parklands, waterbodies and extensive tree canopy all contained by an urban edge of high rise buildings. In Korea Mike has focussed on the incredible project that demolished an expressway to open up a creek and parkland system that flowed through the centre of the city. This new green lung is a great addition to Seoul. Singapore has some dramatic examples of buildings incorporating greenery including the Parkroyal on Pickering Hotel which is dripping in greenery. The Singapore Government encourages green roofs and green walls by giving floor space bonuses. In Sydney Mike has been involved in the reworking of Sydney Park by creating a series of water bodies and landscaped areas. Turf Design Studio were also the key landscape architects for Central park.
