The 2018 Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Awards acknowledged two important projects in South West Sydney as winners, says the Urban Taskforce.
“The impressive Narellan Town Centre by Greenfield Development Company and D. Vitocco Constructions won the Retail Development award while Willowdale by Stockland won the Masterplanned Community Development Award,” says Urban Taskforce CEO, Chris Johnson. “Both projects represent the quality of development that is occurring in the greenfield areas in Sydney’s South West.”
“Willowdale was featured on the Channel 7 news as ‘Sydney’s Perfect Suburb’ with its 3,000 residential lots as well as medium density town houses and retirement living homes. Willowdale is another example of Stockland’s concern about creating a sense of community in their developments. The development includes a shopping village, a Community Place and extensive parks.”
“Narellan Town Centre is a massive development with a shopping centre, a community plaza, new super markets and 120 speciality shops and 14 commercial offices. The jury was very impressed with the civic nature of the project in the way it provided a friendly destination in an area that was rapidly growing.”
Chair of the judging panel and NSW Government Architect, Peter Poulet, said “It is great to see this level of quality development in the growing areas of South West Sydney. The variety of housing options at Willowdale and the variety of shopping options at Narellan Town Centre are just what is needed as new communities settle on greenfield land.”
“The Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Awards were presented at an industry celebration dinner on the night of Thursday 26 July with the host being comedian Vince Sorrenti.”
