Aaron Gadiel
Chief Executive Officer

Aaron is an environmental and planning lawyer.  He was appointed as the Urban Taskforce's chief executive in July 2007. He is a high profile contributor to the public discussion of urban development issues. As an industry advocate Aaron has a key role in government and parliamentary decision-making processes.

Prior to joining the Taskforce, Aaron was a ministerial chief of staff from 1999 to 2007. He served as the NSW government’s senior political advisor in the roads, housing, energy, regional development and mineral resources portfolios. In these portfolios Aaron had a strong development focus – supporting policy efforts to promote employment, build new infrastructure and achieve community renewal.

Aaron has a bachelor of commerce and a first class honours degree in law.

Gilbert B. de Chalain
Manager - Planning and Policy

After extensive local government experience, mainly in the areas of environmental management and strategic planning, Gilbert moved into private practice as a planning consultant. He has also worked as a policy advisor to the NSW Government, contributing to cabinet-level discussions on the Metropolitan Strategy.

Gilbert believes that you cannot secure a quality urban environment without understanding the issues that are specific to each locality. Gilbert’s work in the Taskforce is focused on the development of sustainable, healthy communities.

Gilbert has a bachelor of applied science and a master of planning.
