Greg
has 25 years of experience in the property industry with
significant expertise in the industrial property and business
space arena. Greg’s philosophy is simple –
put back into the community what you take out, plus a
little bit.
Greg moved to Australia from New Zealand in late 1985.
He formed a substantial private unit property trust predominantly
comprising industrial properties in 1989. In July 1995,
the trust listed on the Australian Stock Exchange as Goodman
Hardie Industrial Property Trust with a portfolio of eight
properties and total assets of approximately $73.2 million.
In 2000 it merged with Macquarie Industrial Trust and
is now known as Macquarie Goodman Industrial Trust (“MGI”).
Greg played a fundamental role in establishing MGI’s
position as the largest industrial property trust on the
Australian Stock Exchange. He oversaw the merger of Macquarie
Industrial Trust and Macquarie Goodman Management Limited
to create Macquarie Goodman Group, and has managed the
Group’s prolific growth since then.
Today, the Group’s total assets under management
total $33.3 billion. It has 543 business space properties
under management, approximately 1000 staff and 2,500 customers.
Macquarie Goodman Group acquired three like-minded businesses
in Europe – Arlington in December 2005, Eurinpro
in May 2006 and Akeler in November 2006. Collaboratively,
these businesses provided the complete platform to deliver
the Group’s Customer Service Model in Europe.
Macquarie Goodman integrates specialist services and
expertise around the globe to deliver complete, proactive
property solutions. The Macquarie Goodman global brand
was built on the combined strengths of four like-minded
businesses across Asia-Pacific and Europe, the commitment
of a passionate team, and the support of loyal customers.
Family
Greg is married to Anna and has three boys, Josh, Sam
and Harry. His family has significant financial interests
in New Zealand, with his parents still residing there.
Greg’s older brother Patrick is the managing director
of the Goodman’s private company and his younger
brother Craig is a director of global customer relationships
for Macquarie Goodman Group in Paris.
Greg enjoys spending time with his family as well as
boating, skiing and tennis.
Greg admires people who live their lives to the fullest
and thrive on their achievements. His best investment
was an airline ticket to Australia in 1984. His worst
investment was a set of golf clubs which he has never
used.
