The Property Person of the Year is an annual award presented to a property sector leader in NSW. The award was presented by the Premier Mr Bob Carr to Lang Walker in 2004 at a charity fundraising dinner in aid of the Rudolf Steiner Warrah Society.
The 2004 Property Person of the Year award dinner and presentation attracted 450 property industry representatives and raised more than $215,000 plus $50,000 in-kind donations for the Rudolf Steiner Warrah Society to purchase a residential cottage in Cherrybrook, as well as refurbish existing cottages and build a sensory garden for residents at the Dural cottages.

In the late 1960’s A & L Walker Pty Limited was established in New South Wales by Lang Walker and his father, Alec, as a plant hire and earth moving contractor. By the early 197’s Lang Walker had successfully established the Walker Group, a company that specialised in the construction of new roads and subdivision development.

Since 1977, Mr Walker has been involved in property development, commencing with development of residential and small office buildings and, by the 1980’s, he added industrial and civil engineering projects to his portfolio of activities. In the 1990s and beyond, Lang’s development activities expanded into retail shopping centre development and ownership, student accommodation, heritage refurbishments, waterfront communities and resort living.

Some of Lang Walker’s companies have generated sales revenue of over $2 billion and employed over 375 full time staff. In the past 10 years alone, he has inspired the development of over 240 projects. Walker Corporation’s current activities span all sectors of property development – industrial, commercial, retail, residential and resorts. His company’s property developments are renowned for building strong community spirit, embracing leading-edge design, environmental and commercial sustainability principles. Walker has a reputation as an employer who promotes innovation, creative development and personal growth.

Lang Walker personally supports a range of charitable activities and he is an active sailor. He is the President of the Australian Farr 40 Class of yachts. Walker Corporation embraces fund raising of various descriptions as part of the day-to-day in-house programs.
